LAILA WILLIAMS

Laila Sapphira Williams, age 22, is a senior biology and music theory double major. She enjoys composing, but only
behind closed doors and when no one is listening. She is most inspired by the rhythms and melodies from Brazil's 
Amazon and Baiao regions and hopes to one day study in one of the leading samba schools of Brazil.  She is currently 
collaborating and dancing with the Oberlin Dance Company and will be dancing with the Kibbutz Contemporary Ballet 
apprentice program next fall. She should have been a piano player, but her mother chose flute as her principal instrument. 
As a compromise between the two, she now plays the (vocal) chords. She is a libra.
